There is a skull, reminding us of this life’s mortality, or you can imagine it as a life after death. Beside it, I painted a candle. It has a small flame, bringing a touch of warmth to the scene. The wax drips down, pooling at the bottom, symbolizing how time slips away. The shadows cast by the candle create a warm, welcoming effect. A branch stretches across the table, its rough texture adding depth. I chose this branch for its contrast with the smoothness of the skull and the candle. It represents both decay and resilience, suggesting the struggle of life. I also added a fig, which i personally imagine as a contrast to the bitterness of the piece. it is sweet, warm. As I look at this still life, I see a story unfolding. Each piece contributes to a deeper meaning, inviting anyone who sees it to imagine their own thoughts about life and death. This arrangement, while gloomy, holds ideas about the beauty of life’s fleeting moments.
