My Aurora Borealis Dream

My name is Victoria. I am six years old and I am a senior infant at school. This artwork is about the Northern Lights, also called the Aurora Borealis. A few weeks ago, people in Dublin were lucky enough to see the Aurora Borealis lighting up the night sky. All my friends were very excited because they got to see it, but I missed it because I was asleep when it happened. When I heard about it the next day, I felt really sad because I didn’t get the chance to see such a beautiful and magical thing. I kept thinking about how it might have looked in the dark sky, shining and moving like colourful waves. Because I couldn’t see the Northern Lights in real life, I decided to draw them the way I imagined them in my mind. I used acrylic paint, pencils and pens to make the sky dark and mysterious, with bright green, blue, and purple colours glowing across it. I added silver lines to show the lights dancing and sparkling. I also drew tall trees underneath, standing quietly and watching the sky, just like I would have done if I was there. Drawing this picture made me feel happy. Even though I missed seeing the Aurora Borealis, I was able to create my own magical night sky through art.
