8-11 Category • 2026My aim was to show different elements of nature from around the world. I started by sketching a rough draft of what I wanted my finished piece to look like. This took several attempts and a lot of research. Once I was happy with the sketch, I began outlining my panels one by one and colouring them in using my favourite markers. I had previously started a drawing for an art competition, but because I couldn’t fully commit to it, I never ended up entering. This time, one of my favourite parts of the process was looking back at my drawings and feeling proud of what I had created. My favourite part of the artwork is either the mountain with the sun overhead or the sunset on the water. Even though the sunset is probably not the best technically, it was the first one I drew and is still one of my favourites. When I first heard about the competition I was skeptical if I could do it but then an idea came to my head and I committed to it, did took a lot of research and stayed motivated. I kept going and finally I was finished!! honestly, it was fun and I hope next time there is any art competition I hope I can enter again. Thank you Phoebe Flanagan age 10
