Growing up in Beijing, I experienced the daily effects of air pollution, which made me deeply aware of the fragility of our environment is and how closely our lives depend on its health. This awareness inspired me to create an artwork that encourages appreciation and responsibility, reminding the audience that protecting nature means protecting the moments, resources and beauty it gives us every day. The sea and sunset represent nature’s vastness and calmness, while the food, flowers and glass symbolize what nature provides. The artwork is guided by pollution affecting land, ocean and air, I combined all these natural elements to show the interconnectedness of nature and human life, highlighting what we stand to lose if environment is neglected. Placing the fruits in foreground emphasizes how closely our lives depend on a healthy environment. The flowers are painted softly and vaguely to convey fragility, illustrating how nature can slowly disappear without care and preservation. The use of warm tones in the sunset creates a sense of calmness, hope and appreciation, evoking empathy in the audience, while the cooler tone of the sea and sand represents balance and tranquillity. The bright, natural hues of the fruits and flowers represent freshness, life and abundance, highlighting what a healthy Earth can provide. Overall, the contrast between warm and cool tones guides the audience’s eye through the artwork and makes the painting more vibrant, reinforcing the idea of harmony between nature and humanity. Through this painting, I invite the viewer to reflect on our role in protecting environment, finding both responsibility and hope in the beauty it provides. By showing nature’s generosity alongside its fragility, I hope this artwork encourages a sense of wonder, reminding us that every choice we make impacts the world we share.
