Commendation

My name is Walt. Art is something that has always been part of my life. When I am making art, it feels like I enter a world of my own. For this competition I decided to do a portrait of my eldest brother. I had the idea to pose him as if he was shielding his eyes from a bright light. I wanted to create a dramatic artwork with lots of intense and deep shadows. I titled my piece "First Contact", as I felt that this worked with the theme, as he could be looking at something "extraordinary".
